This is the promo for Shinkendo that has been featured on the shinkendo.com website for quite a few years. It's begging to be updated and a new one is in the works, using all new footage.
Shot and Edited by an old student of Obata Kaiso, and featuring music by 'Hiroshima', this video is a blast from the past featuring young(er) Obata Toshishiro Kaiso cutting in his backyard and in stage performances.
Mandatory from these 1980s videos is the VHS quality and heavily synthesizer-based music. Thankfully no flock of seagulls haircuts.

In the Los Angeles Japanese Retirement Community in Boyle Heights, there was a cultural day in which Japanese arts performers from around the Los Angeles area were invited to perform.
Thus we added another unusual performance venue to our demo archive. Performing are Yoko Obata, Obata Kaiso, and Mike Shu

Obata Kaiso and family were invited to perform in the big backyard of someone.... important I guess. And we performed a 10-15 minute routine. Mike Shu Sensei and Saito Sensei were en tow.

This was originally edited together as a demo reel to give to TV broadcasters to look at Obata Kaiso's abilities.
