Yep Surf Music was heard at Woodstock, here is lost footage of Sha Na Na performing a frantic version of WIPEOUT. They played before Jimi Hendrix's set. Of course Jimi once sang you would never hear Surf Music Again. Does anyone have this clip in better quality or can tell me if there is a video or dvd that does. '50's greasers playing a surf tune to a bunch of Hippies, Gotta love it!
One of the few times i entered a Frisbee contest, Jay and i just making it up as we go along. Ventura Beach Festival 1995. Also we aren't playing with a Skystyler, just one of those Cheap Wham-O Super Pro type frisbees you buy at any toy store. I actually made the Ventura Newspaper with a photo taken during this.
Check out this 1975 Australian Coke commercial, It's the same footage that was used in the Crystal Voyager film. Notice how much the music sounds like the Pink Floyd song ECHOS which was the music used during this footage in the surf film
Surf Film Maker Dale Davis and his skateboard team, Dale Has Since passed away but he made some classic surf films (the Golden Breed, Inside Out etc) and at the time had a surfing tv show.
Part of a tv show from 1966 called THE PROFESSIONALS, This one episode was on SURFERS. Greg Noll, Skateboarding, Skimboarding, Hawaii etc. Does anyone out there have a 16mm copy of this so i can make a better transfer, this is color but whomever transferred it didn't know how to do it properly and it's totally red, I made it B&W because it looked better.
This is the trailer for the film UTOPIA......FREDRICK KOHNER Who wrote the book GIDGET from the stories his Daughter Told him, Also was a writer on this Laurel and Hardy movie from 1951, This was the last L&H film made. They remind me of the Skipper and Gilligan.
FLAT FLIP FLYS STRAIGHT is the directions that are printed on the underside of the original frisbees..... Flip the frisbee flat from your hand and it will fly straight.
Snowboarding Pioneer Chuck Barfoot being interviewed on tv in Salt Lake City, Utah in 1998 which was his 20th Anniversary of making snowboards or SNOBOARDS which is what he first called them, The one fact he got wrong was that Sherman Poppen came up with the idea for the Snurfer in 1962, it was actually on Xmas Day 1965. Chuck never claimed to be able to remember dates.
Check out little Sky Siljeg and Mitchie Brusco when they were really young. Now Sky is kicking butt in the Skate World and Mitchie is in the XGames. These 2 have really taken off.
