This might be the first time "Price" played an April Fools prank in the Showcase. The real treat here is listening to Johnny Olson trying not to lose it as he reads the absurd copy.
I got a rather interesting request for some clips involving "game shows, food, and unusual appliances."
And here's a famous food-related game of "To Tell the Truth." A budget-conscious contestant has an interesting idea for how to save a little money and get the proper amount of meat in your diet.

Well...this one is loosely connected, but the request gives me an excuse to post a "Treasure Hunt" clip.

And if there was a game show that specialized in unusual appliances, it was the original "Price is Right" starring Bill Cullen. Enjoy this series of clips.

Actually, he doesn't. Art plays a series of games very similar to "Play Your Hunch" with the panel on "I've Got a Secret." Notice that host Garry Moore disappears altogether and just lets Art take over the segment.
I heartily endorse this video.
If you're ever on a game show and the host asks you to name the largest bone in the human body, there are 206 possible answers that would make more sense than this one.
At that time of year where we declare "Out with the old!" here now is a look at how various game shows said "Out with the old" (or in some cases, "Out with the 13 weeks") over the years. Enjoy!
Round 3 and the bonus round, where I'm more machine than man, and where the post-production team earned their overtime pay editing these segments as much as possible to squeeze the game into a 30-minute slot.
Special thanks to the anonymous donor who provided this clip to me and granted permission to upload it.
Here's a sensational premise for a Showcase, although you can understand why it wasn't done often. Johnny Olson is the DJ offering a chance at some great prizes as he plays top 40 hits. Every time a prize is mentioned in a song, that prize will be added to the Showcase!
"It's a game for the uninhibited." And with that, you've pretty much committed yourself to booking Soupy Sales to be on your game show at some point. Here's Soupy, pantomiming clues as only he can.

Soupy wasn't as polished with Instant Reaction as he was with the Winner's Circle, but by golly, he still got the contestants there...Oops, spoiler. :-)
